Mimi Bakx is an artist and educator based in South London. With a background in graphic design and illustration, she merges her love of poetry with the visual through an experimental typographic practice. Phrases taken from (unfinished) poems form the basis for play with unconventional materials and abstracted forms. As an educator in secondary school, her ongoing desire to explore and develop new skills informs and enriches her creative process. Through her work, Mimi investigates the intersection of text and visual art, questioning how the written word can transcend its traditional boundaries to become an integral part of fine art.
